The Texas Association of Rental Agencies (TARA) announced the hiring of Austin based Association Management Professionals (AMP) to run the daily business operations of the largest state rent-to-own association in the nation. Scott Pospisil, president of AMP, will serve as TARA's executive director, replacing Vicki Hale who stepped down in June (see story).

AMP assumed full management of TARA on August 1. TARA's headquarters will then be located one block from the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin.

Pospisil has over 30 years experience in managing trade associations at the CEO level. He founded AMP in 1993.

"Our initial efforts will be on moving the current operations of the association to our Austin office and focusing on the annual convention and buying show," Pospisil said. TARA's annual showcase event will be held October 11- 13, at the Sheraton Grand DFW in Dallas.

TARA President, Dan Matthews, called on all members to support the event. "This is our most important function of the year," said Matthews. "We need all members to attend and show their support for the association and our exhibitors."

Following the convention, the TARA Board of Directors will conduct a strategic planning session to lay out the goals and priorities of the association for the coming year.
