In a brain-storming session by
rent-to-own (RTO) dealers at the March Nationwide PrimeTime!
Show, the
BriteLite
DJ kit was introduced as a new RTO product line, and the room
was very excited about their rent-to-own revenue potential.
Since then, sixteen different rent-to-own companies with over 80
locations are now carrying these kits.
"We manufacture a high-quality, professional product with
multiple purposes," says Kamran Yasna, RTO Accounts
Manager, BriteLite Enterprises. "Primarily a set-up for part-time DJs,
with lights and sound, our plug and play DJ Pack 3000 comes with
all of the required components to also host a private party, for
karaoke or for personal use as a very high-powered stereo."
According to Yasna, Dearden's approached his company last
year with the idea of selling the BriteLite DJ kit to their
rental market because they saw its potential for their
customers. They tried it out, and it has been a success.
"Dealers are getting energized about it because the kit is easy
to operate and also includes a manual and training video in
English and Spanish. It is affordable, with an expected rental
rate of $40/wk or $130-$150/month at 24 months."
Yasna met with Nationwide/RentDirect's executive director,
James MacAlpine to talk about broader distribution for BriteLite
in the RTO market.
"In RTO we are always looking for something new that sets us
apart. BriteLite is a good example of a product you can't get
anywhere else," says MacAlpine. "I admit, when Kamran first
contacted me, I didn't think his DJ kit would move. But he
explained that he already had dealers using it in some type of
rental-purchase in the U.S., particularly in Hispanic markets.
It also was in 200 stores in Mexico where customers would buy or
rent to own and then either use it for a means of generating
extra income or as a very nice home audio system. He convinced
me of its potential. We started off slowly and put some in one
of our warehouses. The initial results were fantastic, and we're
now working to get BriteLite into a national program."
MacAlpine says Yasna was convinced he had a winner and is
committed to getting the product into RTO. He will launch a full
blown sales campaign to rental dealerships, officially
introducing BriteLite in August at the APRO Convention in St.
Louis and the Nationwide PrimeTime! Show in Las Vegas.
"We
expect both the concept and the product to take off," says
Yasna. "It seems perfectly suited to RTO and will offer
dealers some very interesting and profitable options."
