presented to the retail home furnishings executive who, in the
past year, has contributed to his or her community, humanity and
the furniture industry.

Dothan, Ala, was named the SEHFA Retailer of the Year. |
The Southeastern Home Furnishings
Association (SEHFA) recently honored its top retailer and
manufacturer's representative at its Annual Convention in
Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, Destin, Florida.
Jason Rudd of Rudd Furniture in Dothan, Ala, was named the SEHFA
Retailer of the Year. The award was presented by Bill Turner,
SEHFA president. The award is presented to the retail home
furnishings executive who, in the past year, has contributed to
his or her community, humanity and the furniture industry. Rudd
is the third generation of his family to operate Rudd Furniture
which opened in 1945. In August, 2007, Rudd Furniture opened a
second store in Montgomery, Ala.
The SEHFA Traveler of the Year award was presented to Price
McLemore III, McLemore & Associates, Montgomery, Ala., by Shane
Spiller, Spiller Furniture, Tuscaloosa, Ala. The award is
presented to the manufacturer's representative who, during the
past year, has demonstrated a high standard of professionalism
in his or her field. McLemore has been active in the home
furnishings industry for seven years and represents Liberty
Furniture and Luke Leather.
Other awards presented during the convention were the
President's Recognition Award and the President's Award. The
President's Recognition Award went to Tupelo Furniture Market
for its many years of support for SEHFA. Accepting the award
from Bill Turner, SEHFA President, were Janice Coleman and Janie
Foster. Outgoing SEHFA president, Bill Turner, Furniture World,
Petal, Miss, received the President's Award for his service as
SEHFA president.
Educational seminars focused on "Growing Your Business When
Facing Challenging Conditions" and "Actions to Transactions"
presented by Phil Gutsell, GutSELL & Associates and “Improving
Your Financial Matrix” presented by John Egger, Profitability
Consulting Group.
