statistics are evidence of the strength of companies owned by
women entrepreneurs despite economic downturns and adversity.

Women presidents are leading
growing businesses in 2008. Results from the surveyed membership
indicate 70% of women presidents and CEOs of multi-million
dollar companies predict their companies will maintain or grow
revenues this year, according to the annual economic survey by
the Women Presidents' Organization (WPO).
The most important issues affecting WPO member businesses are
the cost of oil and the retention of customers. Despite the
economic downturn, 85% of these CEOs and presidents projected
the same number or an increase in the number of employees for
2008 over 2007 and stated that they would offer the same or
increased salaries in 2008.
"These statistics are evidence of the strength of companies
owned by women entrepreneurs despite economic downturns and
adversity," said Marsha Firestone Ph.D., president and founder
of the WPO. "Our survey indicates that there was an overall
increase as well as a predicted increase in revenue, growth, and
employment. If our members are any indication of the 2008
revenue results for privately held businesses, then Americans
have every right to expect good news in the coming months."
